The Fat Balance: Why Women Need Both Saturated and Unsaturated Fats
Not all fats are created equal — and the right balance matters more than you think.
For years, fat got a bad reputation. But the truth is, your body (and especially your hormones) need fat to function properly. The key is finding the right balance between saturated and unsaturated fats.
Saturated fats — not the enemy
Saturated fats (like those found in butter, eggs, and coconut oil) are essential in moderation. They help produce key hormones like estrogen and progesterone, which are vital for women’s reproductive health, mood stability, and energy.
Too much, though, can raise LDL (bad) cholesterol levels — which is why balance is everything.

Unsaturated fats — the body’s best friend
Unsaturated fats (like those in olive oil, avocado, nuts, and fish) support:
  • Heart health
  • Brain function
  • Skin and hair strength
  • Anti-inflammatory processes
They’re especially helpful for managing PMS symptoms, boosting fertility, and supporting mood — making them a must-have in any woman’s diet.

Balance is the real superpower
Instead of cutting fat, focus on quality and proportion:
  • Cook with olive oil instead of butter when possible
  • Add avocados or nuts to meals for sustained energy
  • Enjoy eggs or coconut-based dishes mindfully — they do have a place!
